Bearing Types
Plain Bearings
In the majority of wheels, the bearing is either Nylon or Cast Iron. Plain wheel bearings will give complete satisfaction in all except the most exacting applications.
Ball Bearings
Precision ball journals are ideal for applications where high radial and moderate axial loads are present, and give very low rolling friction.
Roller Bearings
Most wheels over 75mm diameter are available with needle roller bearings. In many of these wheels the balls are lined with a hardened split sleeve and fitted with a case hardened wheel tube and bearing retainers.
Tapered Bearings
Opposed taper roller bearings resist both radial and axial loads. Wheels fitted with bearings of this type, therefore, are ideally suited to power towing applications.
