Power Towing
Due to the greatly increased stresses exerted on various components of the castor and wheel during power towing operations the use of pressed steel is NOT recommended. Obstructions such as kerbs, gulleys and uneven joints in concrete floors can exert enormous impact loads leading in some instance to the ultimate failure of the castor. Furthermore towing trailers in train increases the problem when only one castor may have to withstand forces generated by the whole mass of the train, including the tractor unit.
Fabricated castors fitted with tapered roller or ball journal wheels are available to withstand the rigours of Power Towing, and our experienced staff are available to help you with your selection.
