Understanding Static & Dynamic Load Capacity
Static Load Capacity is the maximum load rating specified by the manufacturer when the castor is stationary and the levelling foot is not under additional lifting stress.
Dynamic Load Capacity is the recommended working load capacity during equipment movement, positioning and levelling operation.
Because Footmaster levelling castors function as both a castor and a small jacking system, load distribution can change significantly during lifting and levelling. During operation, individual castors may temporarily support much higher loads than standard castor calculations would normally allow for.
For this reason, the recommended Dynamic Load Capacity is calculated at approximately 50% of the manufacturer’s stated Static Load Capacity.
Important: Standard castor load calculations often divide total equipment weight across 3 castors in a 4-castor configuration. For levelling castors and jacking castors, equipment and load weight should instead be divided across 2 castors to allow for increased loading during levelling and positioning.
