Castors and Wheels – Boost Mobility and Efficiency
Castors and wheels play a crucial role in improving the mobility of equipment across industries. Whether you're revitalising existing setups or adding movement to static items, these components transform stationary equipment into easily transportable units.
...
You’ll find them on trolleys, platforms, cabinets, workbenches, and many other types of transport systems. With the right castor or wheel, you simplify handling, reduce strain, and increase productivity.
Keystone supply Light Duty, Medium Duty, Heavy Duty and Extra Heavy Duty Castors...and everything in between - from 15kg load capacity to 8,000kg Load Capacity.
Types of Castor Brackets
Understanding castor brackets is key to choosing the right solution. Let’s explore the main types:
Fixed (Rigid) Brackets
These brackets allow only forward and backward movement. They’re perfect when you need controlled, straight-line motion—ideal for guiding carts or equipment along a set path.
Swivel Brackets
For greater flexibility, swivel brackets allow 360-degree rotation. They let your equipment move in any direction with ease. Plus, you can boost safety and control by adding one of several brake types:
Wheel Lock: Stops the wheel from rolling.
Wheel Footbrake: A convenient foot-operated brake to secure the wheel.
Swivel & Wheel Brake (Total Stop Brake): Locks both the swivel and wheel completely—perfect for full stability.
Wide Selection of Castor Wheels
At Keystone Castors & Wheels, we offer a broad range of castor wheels to match different frame types and environments. Our collection includes:
• Nylon – Lightweight and durable
• Polypropylene – Affordable and resistant to chemicals
• Rubber Tyre – Quiet and shock-absorbing
• Polyurethane – Tough with low rolling resistance
• Cast Iron – Heavy-duty and long-lasting
Even more, each wheel type is available with multiple bearing options. Choose from plain bore, roller bearings, or ball bearings, depending on the performance and smoothness you need.

The Grey Rubber Tyre is a softer wheel compared to hard tread wheels like nylon and the rubber absorbs vibrations whilst in motion making this a low noise option and will not mark or scratch the floor. The roller bearing lowers the rolling resistance to reduce the effort required to move the castors. Together with the strong bracket that has a double ball race in the swivel head makes this castor a great choice for many industrial or domestic applications.

The castor houses a white Nylon Wheel with Plain Bore. Load Capacity = 170kg.The Nylon castor wheel is a hard tread made from quality nylon. It will not damage or mark concrete floors and is not susceptible to picking up floor debris and swarf. Nylon is a popular wheel choice because it is light weight and has a high load capacity relative to other wheel materials of the same size. It is not affected by water and is insensitive to many chemicals apart from acids.

There is a hardened Taper Roller Bearing in he swivel head, which has a grease nipple, for smooth swivelling action and durability. The Top Plate is 145mm x 145mm and has 4 bolt holes that are spaced 120mm x 120mm, each with a 11mm hole diameter. The castor is able to tilt +/- 5o from its central axis according to the flatness of the floor. This ensures that this castor's wheels keep contact with the floor allowing smooth AGV movement and protection of the loaded cargo when changing directions (See illustration below)The wheels are more widely separated from each other than most Twin Wheel Castors. When changing direction, the two wheels spin in opposite directions to each other which reduces the castor offset. The smaller the offset the less chance that the AGV will deviate from its designated line. This castor frame has two wheels with a Polyurethane tyre (Shore A 95) on an Aluminium centre each containing ball bearings, The polyurethane wheel has excellent elasticity the minimises slipping that can happen when an AGV starts or stops. In addition, the elasticity also absorbs small shocks arising from small imperfections in the floor. The wheel itself is non marking and will not damage the floor.
