Solid Rubber Tyre Wheels
Solid Rubber Tyre wheels have the benefit of being gentle on floors, quiet and vibration absorbing. Rubber tyre wheels are generally resistant to many aggressive substances except oil. Our rubber tyre castor wheels are available with a variety of wheel centres and the most popular are nylon, pressed steel and cast iron. The wheels also ha...ve a range of bearings which determine the manoeuvrability of the wheel. These wheels have 3 main types of bearing:
Plain Bore: This is the most basic bearing type and consist of a simple smooth hole in the middle of the caster wheel's centre. They are shock-resistant and maintenance free but because the wheel's rotation is not assisted by a bearing, this type of wheel bearing is recommended on product that is moved at low speed, with relatively low weight loads and over short distanced.
Roller Bearing: This type of bearing is also known as a needle roller because the plastic bearing cage is lined with long thin rollers that lower the rolling resistance of the wheel compared with Plain Bore Bearings. It is a robust bearing that is shock-resistant and mainly used for transport equipment castors.
Precision Ball Bearings: These are the highest quality type of bearing because they have extremely low rolling resistance (that is, they are easier to move than plain bore bearings or roller bearings) even with heavy loads.
Solid Rubber tyre wheels come in various types of rubber:
Grey Rubber: This is a soft non-marking tread that is kind to floors, quite and vibration absorbing. This is probably the most popular type of rubber tyre wheel.
Black Rubber: This is very similar to the Grey Rubber tyre but it can mark floors. They are a bit lower cost than grey rubber and are available with pressed steel centres and polypropylene centres. Often found of Sack Truck's this type of tyre is suitable for a wide variety of used as it won't damage floors and the Black Rubber Tyre on a Polypropylene centre (with a smooth plain bore) is great for outdoor use.
Elastic Rubber Tyre: These are usually the "blue" rubber tyres and is a special rubber compound that combine the benefit of being kind to floors and offering a particularly high load capacity. This type of rubber tyre tends to be more hard wearing than other types of rubber tyre wheels.
